This Is My Story
The key to Design = Inspiration + Creativity + Heart. When designing a project, I also take into consideration: grids, fonts, spacing, color, consistency, and legibility. With every project that I work on, I want it to communicate a sense of meaning and purpose.
My first job in the publishing industry began in 1995 with the Informant Communications Group, Inc. While starting out as a Designer, I designed various magazines: Dephi Informant, Oracle Informant, The Microsoft Office & Visual Basic for Applications Developer, and asp.netPRO. In my later years with Informant, I became the Art Director and oversaw a small Production department. The company’s asp.netPRO magazine was acquired by the Penton Media. Inc. in January 2009.
After working for Penton, I designed a few brochures, ads, and poster for the Jodo Shinshu Correspondence Course. I also assisted in laying out the articles for the NikkeiWest newspaper, and designing the 44th and 45th Annual Northern California Cherry Blossom Festival booklet. Now, I am working as the Marketing and Communications Manager for the Woodwork Institute. I layout our bimonthly Details newsletter and biannual Archetype magazine. I also am in charge of maintaining our website in Dreamweaver.
I am thankful for all of the design opportunities that I’ve experienced throughout my life. I hope to continue to utilize my graphic design skills and be able to serve the community.
